1. Purpose in Your Heart
Before the temptation arrived, Daniel had already decided in his heart what he would and would not do. Deciding our standards in advance gives us power to resist peer pressure.
"But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself..." (Daniel 1:8)
Daniel 3:17–18
2. But If Not Faith
When threatened with the burning fiery furnace, the three youths trusted in God's ability to save them, but declared that even if He didn't, they would still stay faithful.
"Our God... is able to deliver us... but if not... we will not serve thy gods..." (Daniel 3:17–18)
Daniel 6:10
3. Three Times a Day
Even after prayer was outlawed under penalty of death, Daniel went straight home, opened his windows toward Jerusalem, and knelt in sincere thanksgiving to God.
"...he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God..." (Daniel 6:10)

4. Shutting the Lions' Mouths
Sealed inside the pit of hungry beasts, Daniel spent the night protected by an angel of God. King Darius rejoiced in the morning, decreeing praise for the living God.
